Unyte on DevZone blog
Skype's Lester Madden was kind enough to put up a little write up about Unyte on DevZone's blog.
I took a liberty of pushing up his video clip to YouTube (the word must be shared)
Here it goes:
Otherwise we are getting ready for releasing Unyte v2.0 with all exciting things in it. Stay tuned :)

Unyting in Vegas
We just got back from our Las-Vegas trip to eBay developers conference.
We had a presentation booth for Unyte. A lot of people stopped by and checked into. Some of them (that where the real treat was) were already Unyte users, others were asking in what way we are better than all the usual suspects in this market (namely: WebEx, GoToMeeting, Breeze, LiveMeeting), and I realized that it was such an easy thing to explain: we are absolutely no hassle and we are in free-to-affordable price range. Well, I have to admit: one guy insisted that NetMeeting still fully serves all his web conferencing needs and he doesn’t need any better (Doh!)

Oh, by the way, Get this: Unyte YouTube video.
Pretty cool (even though these guys are still using v1.0)

Unyte v1.1 in Beta

It’s been a busy five months for us since we officially launched our Unyte product version 1.0.
Now we are excited to tell you that Unyte 1.1 is ready for beta testing.
We added annotation feature to it, slick new UI, ability to work without Skype as well as numerous under-the-hood bug fixes and improvements.
Our beta site is this: http://beta.unyte.net
We also finally spent some time on getting phpbb in place ("if you want something done right - just do it yourself" worked once again): http://forum.webdialogs.com
Use it, enjoy it, let us know what you think.

Unyte
So we launched today this new little thing called “Unyte”.
Like in every other thing the questions are “What is it?” “Why?” and “How?”. In that order.
Here it comes:
What is it?
Technically speaking Unyte is a Skype plug-in that delivers desktop viewing and sharing functionality with minimum setup and very intuitive UI for anyone to grasp in no time.
Bill Campbell describes the product very good in his Skypejournal blog.
Why?
Skype is a whole new paradigm of communication. Skype is certainly not the only one, but they did it first and they did it right. This communication paradigm is about instant escalation from one communication level to another (chat to voice to video). Off course people used to talk and to see each other since the birth of human kind.
Now they’ve got this new little reality which becomes increasingly important in their lifes (for better and for worse) – computers. To understand each-other’s world people need now a new level of communication: desktop sharing.
All we needed to do is “one plus one”: Skype already offers this instant escalation paradigm; we’ve got the technology to marry it to. This is what’s called an “opportunity”.
How?
Skype’s got an API. Not a great API, but still infinitely better than no API. We’ve got the technology that we developed over the course of last five years for our main product WebInterpoint. The rest is easy: we just assumed that we are building this plug-in for our own use, and assumed that what’s good for us will be good for the entire Skype community.
It’s January 5th 2006 11:57 PM now. As off this moment 209 Skype users tried Unyte since we officially released the beta today.
Good luck and good night…
